L\u2019HISTOIRE DE LA CHAUX<\/h3>\n

On retrouve d\u00e9j\u00e0 des traces d\u2019applications avec de la chaux<\/strong> a\u00e9rienne<\/strong> en Egypte, o\u00f9 elle fut surtout utilis\u00e9e comme couche de fond pour les d\u00e9corations de mur.\u00a0 Plus tard, dans les civilisations mono\u00efques et Myc\u00e8nes, on l’utilise dans la r\u00e9alisation de fresques.<\/p>\n

Mais ce n\u2019est que chez les Grecs qu\u2019on la retrouve dans des r\u00e9alisations d\u2019enduits.\u00a0 La chaux<\/strong> hydraulique<\/strong> fut invent\u00e9e (par hasard\u00a0?) en utilisant de la terre provenant de Santorin, une \u00eele o\u00f9 la surface est compos\u00e9e essentiellement de sable volcanique.\u00a0En obtenant ainsi des mortiers plus r\u00e9sistants il fut possible de r\u00e9aliser des \u00e9difices plus importants o\u00f9 l\u2019utilisation de la chaux devint indispensable pour les ma\u00e7onneries.<\/p>\n

Selon les proportions, le type de sable et la pierre calcaire livr\u00e9s ou trouv\u00e9s sur place, les constructions allaient plus ou moins bien r\u00e9sister \u00e0 l\u2019usure du temps.\u00a0 Ce ne sera qu\u2019en 1756 qu\u2019on trouvera l\u2019explication chimique pour les diff\u00e9rentes r\u00e9actions de la chaux de construction (Smeaton).<\/p>\n

Le Fran\u00e7ais Louis Vicat ira ensuite plus loin encore en inventant en 1817 le ciment<\/strong>.\u00a0 La chaux hydraulique perdra ainsi tout doucement de sa popularit\u00e9, et ceci surtout \u00e0 partir de la Deuxi\u00e8me Guerre Mondiale. Pourtant, aujourd\u2019hui, l\u2019utilisation de la chaux est de nouveau en pleine croissance gr\u00e2ce aux nouvelles progressions en architecture \u00e9cologique et durable.<\/p>\n
